Motto Croce / Monte Rogoria (CH) - 1 184 meters

Nr 58

This was the 3rd peak out of 3 (Moncucco, Monte Lema, Monte Croce) we had programmed for today. The second one, Monte Lema, was already in the list of my reached summits and it's always worth a visit.

Motto Croce is officially the 15th-smallest peak in Ticino.

We went up Motto Croce as last summit when walking back down From Monte Lema. We planned it like this because in fact Motto Croce isn't interesting at all as a peak and we just decided to go up there due to pure summit hunter's glory :-)

The path up to the top (which we then actually only took to go back down) is the one starting from the village of Astano numbered with 746 and explained in the official guides of the CAS (Swiss Alpine Club) at page 496 of the 5th volume (Guida delle prealpi ticinesi. Once arrived at Forcola di Monte Faëta you just walk up on the through the woods in southern direction.

On top of this small peak (which is completely covered by woods) there is no cross or something similar but some kind of hunter hideout up a tree (see pictures below).

Level: T2+ (the + because the last 10 minutes are completely off path even if not hard/complicated or exposed at all).
