Monte Caslano (CH) - 526 meters

Nr 25

This is the officially smallest mountain in the region Ticino, it's listed as such in the official guides of the CAS (Club Alpino Svizzero) at page 507 of the 5th volume (Guida alle prealpi ticinesi).

We drove to Caslano and parked our car at the bottom of the mountain at the north-western access.

From there it's an easy hike of total 1 hour 40 minutes (up and down) which can be easily done by everybody (even if not well in shape). I would even run it as an afternoon Trail-run the next time.. it's perfect for that.

There are many possible accesses to the mountain, a few are more tricky than others, but none of them has higher Level than T2.

Even the access we chose (which was pretty steep the first 15 minutes) was easily accessible with the running shoes I've chosen to wear that day.

Fun fact was that on the highest point of the mountain there was no sign or something similar so (as you can see in the pictures) Katrin had to place her own summit cross :-)).

The place where the view it's best, is on the southern peak of the mountain which is also stated as it's top on the official signs, what's not true though as that point (also on the pictures below), is at only 515 meters (Swisstopo.ch doesn't lie) and therefore 11 meters below the geographical highest point... well we went to both just to be sure.

Level: T2
