Cima di Lago (CH) - 1 147 meters

Nr 47

Third peak of our 3 summit hike of today (Monte BigorioMatro di Stinchè, Cima di Lago).

We just walked over to this peak from Matro di Stinchè  where we came up following path number 278 explained on page 270 of the 5th CAS Volume about the region of Ticino (Guida alle prealpi ticinesi). When walking down we realised that there would have been much easier ways up here, as the street from Gola di Lago is really close.

This Peak is listed as the 13th-smallest in Ticino.

On top of the peak, the views are limited to the northern side but you still can get a clear sight of the first higher mountains in Ticino such as the Pizzo Vogorno and Pizzo di Claro.

An interesting detail is that between the two peaks Matro di Stinchè and Cima di Lago, there is a monument dedicated to the swiss army platoon which was in charge for decades to protect the southern border. A perfect place for our lunch today.

This mountain is a little jubilee for Katrin, as this for her is the 40th conquered peak since we officially started with counting.
