Monte Tamaro (CH) - 1 962 meters

Nr 3

This is probably the most famous mountain in Ticino. It might even be one of the only where literally everybody living in Ticino knows where it is.

I hiked up these mountain at least 5-6 times as it's the typical place to go when there are people visiting.. another reason is that it's perfect for a "semi-lazy" sunday hike with a bit of a twitch and great views.

I have tons of pictures of us standing on top here in different situations, here below are a few.

The Path we usually use is the one coming up from the Alpe Foppa on paths 22 and 707 explained in the official guides of the CAS (Swiss Alpine Club) on pages 164 and 452 of the 5th volume (Guida alle prealpi ticinesi) and shown on a picture at page 453.

The mountain actually gives many possibilities for an ascent, choose the one you like most.

Level: T2+ ; the (+) is for the last 200 meters to the summit on which you could need your hands sometimes and the path is a bit craggy
